Rules & Eligibility for 1st Year 1st Sem Admission
THREE YEARS (HONOURS / GENERAL) DEGREE COURSE
1. Passed H.S./Equivalent level examination in the year 2020, 2019, 2018 and 2017.
2. For eligibility criteria follow Annexure- I
3. For admission in Hons., Gen. Degree courses Ist year Ist Semester from W.B.C.H.S.E (10+2) or equivalent Examination, Merit list will be prepared from best five subject marks except Environmental Studies (Compulsory additional). If Environmental Studies is a Compulsory elective with 100 marks , then it can be included within best five.
4. During application, the selection of the board will be as per the Burdwan University approved list.
5. The on-line admission process will be done based on merit. Prospective students should not be called for counselling or verification of documents during the process of admission. No physical presence will be required at the College for admission.
6. Eligible applicants will be informed directly by e-mail. E-mail id and mobile number must be provided by the applicants.
7. Payment of the application fees will be made only through on-line processes, i.e. e-payment and not by any other modes.
8. Payment of admission fees will be done through an on-line process, only by the selected candidates in successive merit lists which will be published in College web-portal for admission in the Hooghly Mohsin College in due time as per available seats.

9. Scanned copy of testimonials : Mark sheet of H.S. or equivalent Examination (10+2) [both side], Madhyamik or Equivalent (class 10) Admit Card for age proof, Mark sheet of Madhyamik or Equivalent (Class 10), Student’s Photograph, Student’s Signature, PWD Certificate in case of Physically Disabled Candidates, Cast Certificate in case of reserved category students) are required to be up-loaded on-line during application.
For reserved category seats SC/ST/OBC-A/OBC-B, only the applicant with a caste certificate from the appropriate authority of the Government of West Bengal, will be eligible, as per Notification No. 746-I, dated 30.04.2013 and Higher Education Department Notification No. 07-Edn (U) / 1U-89/13, dated 2nd January, 2014.
Applicants with caste certificate from other States will be treated as General category.
Admission will be cancelled if the documents are found not in conformity with the declaration in the forms submitted on-line at the time of application. Students are asked to bring all original testimonials at the time of physical verification of documents when report for classes in due course, as per notification No. 434-Edn (CS) /10M-95/14 dated 16th July 2020 of Higher Education Department, Govt. of West Bengal.
10. MERIT LIST WILL BE PREPARED ACCORDING TO MERIT POINT.
MERIT POINT CALCULATION:–
- FOR HONOURS CANDIDATES:
TOTAL OF ‘BEST FIVE SUBJECTS’ MARKS = X [ Those who have passed with four subjects, X = Total of four subjects multiplied by 1.25 ] MARKS IN THE SUBJECTS APPLIED FOR HONOURS = Y
MERIT POINT, M = X + Y
IF MERIT POINTS OF MORE THAN ONE CANDIDATES BECOME IDENTICAL THEN RANKING WILL BE DONE ON THE BASIS OF M1, WHERE M1 = M + Y.
IF M1 OF MORE THAN ONE CANDIDATES BECOME IDENTICAL THEN RANKING WILL BE DONE ON THE BASIS OF M2, WHERE M2 = M1 + Z (Z = ENGLISH)
IF M2 OF MORE THAN ONE CANDIDATES BECOME IDENTICAL THEN RANKING WILL BE DONE ON THE BASIS OF M3, WHERE M3 = M2 + K (K= MADHYAMIK % ).
2) FOR GENERAL CANDIDATES:
MERIT POINT = TOTAL OF BEST FIVE SUBJECTS’ MARKS = M [ Those who have passed with four subjects, M = Total of four subjects multiplied by 1.25 ]
IF MERIT POINTS (M) OF MORE THAN ONE CANDIDATES BECOME IDENTICAL THEN RANKING WILL BE DONE ON THE BASIS OF M1, WHERE M1 = M + Z (Z = MARKS IN ENGLISH).
IF M1 OF MORE THAN ONE CANDIDATES BECOME IDENTICAL THEN RANKING WILL BE DONE ON THE BASIS OF M2, WHERE M2 = M1 + K ( K = PERCENTAGE OF MADHYAMIK %).
NOTE: 1) FOR GEOLOGY HONS. , Y = SUM OF MARKS IN PHYSICS, MATHEMATICS AND CHEMISTRY
- FOR B.SC ECONOMICS HONS. Y = MARKS IN MATHEMATICS
- FOR THOSE WHO APPLIED FOR HONS. IN ACCOUNTING AND FINANCE, COMMING FROM OTHER THAN COMMERCE STREAM, MATHEMATIC’S MARKS WILL BE CONSIDERED AS SUBJECT MARKS.
i.e. ACCOUNTING AND FINANCE HONS. Y = MARKS IN MATHEMATICS
11. Reservation as per rule: SC 22%, ST 6%, OBC-A 10% & OBC-B 7%. Reservation of seats for PWD
candidates will not be less than 5% of the intake (category-wise).
12. After form filling applicants should get a printout of the submitted form. They are to carefully make a scrutiny of the same.
