Scholarships
Quite a number of stipends, scholarships, free-studentships and half free-studentships are granted to meritorious students in terms of the endowments and government regulations. There is a students’ Aid Fund to help poor and needy students.
The College authority is committed to identify all financial resources and make them available to deserving students of all categories. The scholarships are primarily aimed at promoting quality education among the students.
The following endowments deserve special mention:
(A) AMALGAMATED SCHOLARSHIP FUND:
(i) PARAMESH CHANDRA MULLICK AWARD: Prizes, stipends are awarded on the basis of results of Degree Honours Final Examination to the examinees from the College securing the highest marks in each subject with a minimum of 60% of marks for Science subjects and 50% of marks for Arts and Commerce subjects in the University Part II Honours Final Examination.
(ii) MANJUGOPAL BHATTACHARYYA AWARD: Prizes / Stipends are awarded to the examinees from this College securing highest marks in English Honours in Part I and Part II Honours Examinations separately.
(iii) BENOY KRISHNA MODAK AWARD: Prizes / Stipends are awarded to the examinees from this College securing highest marks in Mathematics in Part I Honours Final Examination from this College. (iv) BHOLANATH BASU AWARD: Prizes / Stipends are awarded to the examinees from this College securing highest marks in Chemistry in Part II Honours Final Examination.
(B) NILMONI MUKHERJEE TRUST FUND: Prizes are awarded to the examinees from this College securing highest marks in Economics (Honours) on the basis of Part I and Part II combined results in university examination.
(C) RANI KATYANI TRUST FUND: Prize is awarded to the student securing highest marks in the First Year internal examination for each Honours subject.
(D) BROJENDRA NATH GHOSH PHYSICS AWARD TRUST FUND: This is a new fund created this year with the object of awarding a scholarship to a meritorious and needy deserving student of Physics Honours every year.
